The most important advantage PerchUp Perches provide
compared to current alternatives is bird safety. Unlike any other concrete
perch on the market, our perches are smooth and comfortable on the top
surface. Our design limits the abrasive nail filing surface to the bottom
half of the perch only, preventing the soft pads of birds’ feet from
getting worn down along with their nails.
Another safety feature inherent in our design is the
space we leave between our mounting system and the actual perch end.
This space is important because birds can easily get their nails wedged
into the space between perch and washer on all other perches in
the market. This feature prevents possible injury and helps to promote
a safer play/perch area for companion birds.
PerchUp uses a unique blend of non-toxic ingredients
in our concrete to create a therapeutic perch that is highly durable. In
fact, we’ve even added a quartz crystal aggregate to our blend that
not only increases hardness and durability, but also boosts the nail
filing capability of the rough bottom surface of our perches. Furthermore,
the protruding mounting studs are made to run the entire length of each
perch adding a third major durability factor.
Our array of bright pastel colours have not been sprayed
on to the perches as with current alternatives, but are actually mixed
throughout the concrete preventing any possibility of colour chipping
or wearing off.
Customers can choose the level of nail trimming effectiveness because
our perches are available with two styles of abrasion:
A quartz-concrete
matrix is exposed during deglazing process providing a highly effective
nail wearing action
The 2mm opposed angle "v" groove
is the best configuration for maintaining clipped nails as the function
of this style is to round the end of the nail rather than completely
file it down. Provides a more moderate wearing action.
